Press Release: Updated Board of Health Rule & Order on Masking

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 18, 2022

On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, the Truro Board of Health voted to amend the current masking Rule and Order. The amended language releases the requirement for customers and staff to be masked inside all business establishments and places of assembly.

The Board of Health advises those individuals who are not fully vaccinated to continue to wear a face covering or mask while indoors to prevent spreading COVID-19 to other people.

The revised Order recommends vaccinated persons wear a mask while not in their own home if they have a weakened immune system or are at increased risk for severe disease, or if someone in their household has a weakened immune system or is at increased risk for severe disease or is unvaccinated.

Masking is advised indoors when it is difficult to maintain at least six feet of physical distance between yourself and others not of your household. Masking and distancing remain effective tools to protect yourself and others.

Mandatory masking is still required inside municipal (Town of Truro) buildings, and on all public and private forms of transportation systems such as taxis, ride-shares, school buses and the CCRTA flex bus, as well as in all transportation shelters.
