Winter Storm Watch, High Wind Warning, and Coastal Flood Warning in Effect Tuesday, February 13.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch and a High Wind Warning in effect for most of the day on Tuesday. A Coastal Flood Warning is also in effect from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. High winds (NE 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 60 MPH) could blow down trees or power lines and will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Specific to Truro, flooding up to one foot deep affects low lying areas near Pamet Harbor and along the Pamet River.

The Town of Truro Emergency Management Team is monitoring this weather event, including the potential for snow accumulations. High winds and the potential for wet snow increase the likelihood of power outages.

At this time, residents are encouraged to:

  • monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates;
  • fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds;
  • allow extra time for travel, and avoid traveling in flooding areas;
  • do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth;
  • take necessary precautions to protect flood-prone property;
  • mariners should remain in port, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.

The Truro Emergency Management Team will provide updates as they are available.
