While modeling predicts that our area won’t receive the amount of snowfall as in other parts of the state, we can still expect strong winds and some precipitation and snow this weekend. The NWS has issued a Wind Advisory and Gale Warning in effect from 10:00 pm this evening through late Sunday night. Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

At this point, there are no immediate precautions that the community should take. Keep cell phones and other electronic devices charged in case of a power outage, and register for ALERTruro to receive updates on forecast changes or other precautions for this and future weather events here.

There will be a NWS update at 2:00 pm this afternoon. Staff will be monitoring the forecasts and conditions in town and will provide updates as they are available.
