PUBLIC ADVISORY UPDATE - Head of the Meadow Beach OPEN to swimming

Updated Friday, 6:48 P.M.
Head of the Meadow Beach OPEN for swimming.

A second round of water testing by the Cape Cod National Seashore (CCNS) resulted in satisfactory bacteria levels for swimming at Head of the Meadow Beach.

The Town of Truro tests water quality at all the oceanside beaches monthly. The last sample taken at Head of the Meadow Beach was on June 6, 2023, and the results confirmed normal bacteria presence.

Please note, there are many factors that could produce a poor-quality water sample. The CCNS and the Town of Truro have separate testing protocols, and we continue to actively pursue better communication methods between authorities so that we can provide the public with accurate and timely updates. The CCNS also samples regularly. Their most recent results indicated a higher level of Enterococci Bacteria, however, the second results were deemed safe and at minimal levels of concern.
