Local Hero Award Presented to Carl Brotman at MA State House

Truro Housing Authority Chair, Carl Brotman, received a Robert Kuehn Community Preservation Award at the MA state house on Tuesday, October 6th for his contribution to the ongoing success of the Community Preservation Act (CPA). CPA is a state/local partnership that strengthens and revitalizes our communities. Adopted by 158 Massachusetts communities, the CPA has already protected more than 23,400 acres of open space, created or rehabilitated over 9,400 affordable housing units, and provided funding for 4,000 historic preservation projects and nearly 1,500 outdoor recreation projects. Governor Baker remarked that making government work is not an easy process; it takes tenacity. Senate President Rosenberg and House Speaker DeLeo each remarked on the significance of the CPA in preserving our Commonwealth. Carl was honored to be selected, yet is the first person to point out that his being chosen as a "CPA Local Hero" is due to the support and hard work of a host of Truro volunteers, elected officials, and Town Employees, some of whom spoke at the ceremony, including Senator Dan Wolf and Representative Sarah Peake. Others who made the trip to Boston to be present for the award ceremony, included Town Administrator Rae Ann Palmer, Selectman Jay Coburn, and Leedara Zola, Habitat for Humanity attorney for Land Acquisition & Project Permitting, and Truro CPC Board Members Maureen Cronin and Richard Larkin.
