Welcome! The Truro Community Center is a 9,000 square foot facility which opened in 2009. The mission of the Truro Community Center is to provide facilities for Truro residents (year-round residents and non-resident taxpayers) to engage in recreational, social, educational, cultural, community service, civic, and governmental activities. The Center provides opportunities for persons of all ages to participate in a wide range of programs that educate and stimulate the public, enhance self-confidence, and promote mental and physical health.
The Community Center facilities, equipment and grounds (exclusive of the Puma Park Playground) are first and foremost for the use of residents of the Town of Truro through the regularly schedulted programs of the Council on Aging and the Recreation & Beach Department. Below you will find the rules and regulations under which the Community Center facilities, equipment and grounds (exclusive of the Puma Park Playground), may be made available for use by Truro Town Boards and Committees and by Social, Educational, Hobby, Civic, Cultural and Community Service groups.
The Truro Community Center has four components:
- Council on Aging (COA) - managed by the COA Director.
- Recreation & Beach Department - managed by the Recreation & Beach Director.
- Multipurpose Room & Kitchen - managed by the Town Manager.
- Puma Park Playground - managed by the Recreation & Beach Director.
Council on Aging
The Council on Aging is open Tuesday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and other times by appointment. The COA offers a variety of programs and events, which can be found on the COA web site or by calling 508-487-2462.
The COA has a 940 square foot area that can be reserved by contacting the COA at 508-487-2462. This space will accommodate a maximum of:
- 40 people with tables and chairs
- 60 people with chairs.
The Recreation Department is open Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The Recreation Department has a 550 square foot lounge that can be reserved throught the Recreation Department. The Recreation Lounge will accommodate a maximum of 50 people with tables and chairs.
Multipurpose Room and Kitchen
The Multipurpose Room is 1,800 square feet and can accommodate
- 400 people with chairs
- 190 people with tables and chairs
The Multipurpose Room can be divided into two smaller rooms:
- Pamet Room - 850 square feet and can accommodate:
- 125 people with chairs
- 65 people with tables and chairs
- Truro Room - 950 square feet and can accommodate:
- 250 people with chairs
- 131 people with tables and chairs
The playground is open from dawn to dusk everyday. This area cannot be reserved. The playground is not monitored or supervised and is open for all to enjoy during daylight hours at their own risk.
The Multipurpose Room (and thus the Truro Room) has a large drop-down projection screen. A podium with microphone is available, as is a full audio system. 20 Round Tables (suitable to seat 6-8 people) and 21 Rectangular Tables (suitable to seat 6-8 people) and 300 Chairs are available for use.
