Truro Out of School Program Update

Town of Truro Out of School Program Status Update

The Town of Truro continues to recruit for the positions of Program Leaders for the Out of School Time Program. A conditional offer has been made and accepted for the position of Program Supervisor and we look forward to announcing the candidate’s name upon completion of pre-employment requirements. The position was posted on August 24, 2023 and 5 candidates submitted complete applications and were offered interviews in mid-September. Of those candidates, 1 withdrew prior to the interview, 1 was not offered a position, and 3 were offered positions. Of those candidates, 2 declined offers and 1 candidate accepted the offer for Program Supervisor. Three additional complete applications have recently been received and interviews will be conducted during the week of October 23, 2023.

Recruitment efforts included offering $1,500 to $2,500 sign on bonuses, and advertising on the Town of Truro website, SchoolSpring.com, paper flyer posted, Facebook postings (on the Town page and shared with relevant groups include “Now Hiring Cape Cod”), Provincetown Independent, Cape Cod Times (including digital which feeds to many major job seeking sites), MassHire- Cape & Islands, posted to local colleges and universities via Handshake.com, and shared with seasonal Recreation & Beach staff. Although we are eager to hire these positions and implement this very important program, it is critical to be discerning when selecting individuals to work with our Truro children. We continue to face challenges in identifying qualified candidates for many of our Town of Truro positions, and the crisis is even more acute for hiring childcare providers, in our region, in the Commonwealth, and across the nation. We would urge qualified individuals to visit www.truro-ma.gov/jobs and apply.
