Discussion with Applicants for Community Housing Requests

Truro Affordable Housing Authority Chair Carl Brotman had two applications for CPA funds.

The Housing Authority requested $20,000 for a technical assistant.  The Cloverleaf property is expected to be the focus of the consultant’s work under this grant.  Leedara Zola will be working on grants, bringing water to the location for a 16-bedroom plan.

The Housing Authority used most of their Trust funds for the Buy Down of Old Firehouse Rd. and other deed riders.   Their Replenishing of Funds request is for $85,000.  Carl Brotman explained how the Affordable Housing Authority uses the Trust Fund, mainly for the deed riders that keep the houses Affordable in perpetuity.  Mary Rose asked about possible amounts that would help and requested a spreadsheet on how the Trust Fund money has been spent.

Pennrose Properties President Charlie Adams had requested $200,000 towards the development of the Campbell – Purcell property in Eastham.  He was unable to attend the meeting and would like to reschedule to the December 1, 2017 meeting.

Ann Robinson, Chief Program Officer for Community Development Partnership (CDP) explained the request for $15,000 towards a 2018 Housing Institute for municipal employees.  CDP hopes to offer the successful program again next year.  They are reaching out to the eight Outer Cape towns that have participated.  Jane Petterson asked why the town budgets would not be covering costs for their employees.  Mary Rose asked about approaching banks and other institutions that offer grants.  Maureen Cronin praised the high quality of the Housing Institute that was just completed.
