Assistant Town Manager/Finance Director
The Town of Truro announces that Alex Marini Lessin has been appointed to the role of Assistant Town Manager/Finance Director effective October 16, 2025.
Alex has served as Truro’s Finance Director/Treasurer/Assistant Collector for the past four years. Prior to Truro, Alex worked for the City of Somerville, starting as business manager for the Traffic & Parking department before moving to the Mayor’s office, where he helped multiple City departments improve operations. He graduated from the University of Maryland with Bachelor’s degree in government and politics, Phi Beta Kappa, and received a dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Policy from Brandeis University. Inspired by Robert Putnam’s “Bowling Alone,” he is passionate about civic involvement and improving local communities.
Effective stewardship of Town assets continues to be his main goal.
In his previous role, Mr. Marini Lessin was responsible for leading Truro’s Finance team comprised of the Accounting, Assessing, Treasurer, and Collector Departments. In this role, he managed municipal funds to net over $1.5M in interest income and maintained the Town’s AA+ bond rating. Additionally, he implemented the ClearGov portal for the annual budget process and helped lead the creation of financial policies.
“I am honored to continue to serve the beautiful Truro community where my great-grandparents rented in the summertime for many years, where my mother and father met for the first time, and in the district where my family now calls home,” said Marini Lessin.
Alex and his wife Sarah were married in Mattapoisett and had hoped one day to live on Cape. They have two children – Ruthie, almost 9, and Zoey, 6.
He has been extremely fortunate to work with the dedicated staff in the Treasurer/Collector, Assessor, and Accounting offices and is looking forward to deeper collaboration with Town departments and the community at large.
Mr. Marini Lessin serves as a member of the Cape Cod Synagogue board of Trustees. His hobbies include staying on top of the daily news, playing tennis and basketball, and eating the best bagels on the Cape.
