Town Manager

August 2025 Select Board Announcement

The Truro Select Board is pleased to announce a three-year contract agreement with Kelly Sullivan Clark as Truro Town Manager.

Clark, previously Assistant Town Manager, was the lone finalist of 16 applicants for the job. She took over the Town Manager duties in early February, when former Town Manager Darrin Tangeman’s resignation was announced, and was appointed Acting Town Manager on April 8, when Tangeman’s resignation became effective.

The Select Board has praised Clark’s leadership in performing dual roles during the interim. “Truro is fortunate to have someone with Kelly’s skills and her deep understanding of our community, said Select Board Chair Susan Areson. “We are grateful for her exceptional service during a critical time. Kelly is the perfect person for this job.”

When Clark took over, she and the staff had to finalize the budget for this fiscal year and prepare for a lengthy and complex Annual Town Meeting. She also completed labor negotiations with three town unions and played an integral part in the Cloverleaf Housing Groundbreaking during this period.

Clark has worked for Truro full-time since 2008, beginning in the beach and recreation department where she had worked as a summer counselor since 1999. She eventually ran the department until she was appointed Assistant Town Manager in 2016.

She is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, received a Masters of Social Work from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, MA, and is a Massachusetts licensed certified social worker (LCSW). She grew up spending summers in Truro until she moved to the Lower Cape full-time in 2007.

Clark and her husband, Paul, a Wellfleet Police Sergeant, and their three children, live in Orleans with their dog, Murphy. “I have loved each new role I have taken on with the Town of Truro,” Clark said. “I am very grateful to the Board for this opportunity, and I am excited to continue to serve our community in this new capacity.”

As Town Manager, Clark will be paid $210,305 a year, with a $4,000 annual vehicle allowance and payment into a deferred compensation plan, along with other benefits provided to town employees. The full contract will be posted on the Town of Truro website under the Personnel section.
