[ARCHIVED] OSTP Announcement and Calendar Update

Dear OSTP Families,

We are pleased to announce that registration for the November OSTP (Out-of-School-Time Program) is now open! In addition, we would like to share the OSTP calendar for the remainder of the academic year, along with some important updates.

We understand that families rely on the OSTP program for childcare coverage, and we are committed to meeting this need. Our goal is to provide essential childcare services that offer peace of mind while you work or pursue other commitments. We are dedicated to fulfilling this commitment, ensuring that families receive the support they need and that their children benefit from quality care.

Since its inception, the OSTP program has provided engaging activities on almost all non-holiday weekdays during the academic year, except for the December break. We shared the 2025-2026 academic calendar with you at the end of the summer, which indicated that there would be no programming during the December holiday break, due to low attendance in prior years. After careful consideration and valuable feedback from the community, OSTP is excited to announce that it will now offer a program on:

  • Monday, December 29, 2025
  • Tuesday, December 30, 2025

We regret to inform you that due to preplanned staff vacations, we are not able to offer the OSTP on:

  • Friday, December 26, 2025
  • Friday, January 2, 2026

We are currently investigating the availability of other youth programs during the specified times and whether we can arrange activities for families in Truro.

Starting in 2026, there will be programs every weekday during February, April, and December vacation weeks, except on town-recognized holidays, ensuring that children have access to engaging activities throughout their time off from school.

 Program Schedule

  • Regular School Days: 2:50 PM to 5:30 PM
  • Half Days: 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Professional Development Days: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Vacation Weeks: (Excluding town-recognized holidays) 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Town Holiday Closures (Effective November 12)

Starting after Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, the OSTP will not operate on town-recognized holidays. This aligns with town-wide staffing closures and supports our team's wellness.

The OSTP will not be available on the following town-recognized holidays:

  • January: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February: Presidents' Day
  • April: Patriots’ Day
  • May: Memorial Day
  • June: Juneteenth
  • July: Independence Day
  • September: Labor Day
  • October: Indigenous Peoples’ Day
  • November: Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving
  • December: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve

Thank you for being an essential member of the OSTP community! We truly appreciate your involvement and encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions. Your feedback is vital as we strive to create programs that are not only beneficial but also tailored to meet the diverse needs of your child(ren). Together, we can enhance the program experience and ensure that it effectively supports their growth and development. Please feel free to reach out with any ideas or insights you may have!
