Experience

No prior coaching experience required, training provided.

Practices

  • Grades K - 1 will normally practice once a week in the late afternoon.
  • Grades 2 - 6 will normally practice twice a week in the late afternoon after school.
  • Practices begin in early April.

Games

Typically softball teams (grade 2|3 & 4|5) will play neighboring towns. Home games for Truro Based teams will play at Snow's Field in Truro. Away games will be played from Provincetown to Harwich.

Head Coach / Assistant Coaches

We will determine the Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches. The Head Coach is responsible for the team and will determine how practices and games are managed.

Registrations

In your coaches folder we have provided you with a team roster. To minimize the risk of liability issues, we ask that you do not allow any players to participate if they are not registered.

Cancellations

The cancellation of team practices will be determined by coaches. Please try to notify the team and the Truro Recreation Office at least 2 hours prior to practice time.

The cancellation of games will be determined by the home team’s Recreation Department.

Ending Practice Early

If you end a practice prior to the scheduled time, you will need to contact players' parent(s) or guardian(s) to request for them to pick up their children. If you are unable to contact a parent or guardian, you will need to stay and supervise that child until his/her parent or guardian arrives. The parent/guardian contact numbers can be obtained in your coaches’ folder. Only individuals listed as parents, guardians, "emergency contacts," and "other individuals my child may be released to" are authorized to transport the child.  Coaches are not permitted to transport players unless parents have given permission or unless they are listed as an individual the child may be released to.

Incident Reports

If you have a player injured during a team practice or game, you will need to fill out an Accident/Incident Form, which is located in your Coach’s Binder. Please be sure to notify the player’s parent(s)/guardian(s) and the Recreation Department. Incident reports need to be submitted to the Recreation Department within 24 hours.

First Aid Kit

You will be issued a 1st Aid Kit at the beginning of the season, which you need to have present during all practices and games. If your 1st Aid Kit needs to be re-supplied, please contact us.

Snow’s Field

You may leave your equipment in the Field House at Snow’s Field if you wish. We have provided you with a handout of our procedure to open and secure the Field House.

Truro Central School

You may leave your equipment in the Field House or the far gym closet at Truro Central School, if you wish. We have provided you with a handout of our procedure to open and secure the Field House.
