Public Hearing Board of Health Vote to Amend Masking Rule and Order

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 15, 2021

At their Public Hearing on September 14, 2021 the Truro Board of Health voted to amend their masking Rule and Order that advises unvaccinated customers and staff to wear a cloth face covering inside all business establishments, clubs and places of assembly.

It is now recommended but not required for masks to be worn by vaccinated customers and staff inside business establishments, private clubs and places of assembly. Vaccinated guests and workers at public lodging establishments are encouraged to wear face coverings while inside hallways and common areas; mask wearing by staff and guests at personal service spas or salons is also recommended.

Masking for all persons regardless of vaccination status remains mandatory inside Public Buildings, and on all public and private forms of transportation systems such as taxi’s, ride-shares and the CCRTA flex bus, as well as in all transportation shelters.

The Board of Health reminds the public that full vaccination against COVID-19 remains the most important tool to reduce illness, hospitalization and morbidity from the virus. Individuals of 12 years and older are eligible to be vaccinated, and Truro Health Department staff are available to answer questions about where you can get Vaccinated, and will continue to keep the public advised of further developments regarding COVID-19.
