UPDATE: Ballston Beach Recovered Missing Person Identified

UPDATE 

BALLSTON BEACH RECOVERED MISSING PERSON IDENTIFIED

The recovered missing person has been identified as Ross Williamson, 27 years of age, from Connecticut. Investigation has determined that Williamson had been walking along the beach with his mother, and was swept into the water due to high surf.

 

BALLSTON BEACH RECOVERED MISSING PERSON

On Sunday, September 30, 2018, members of the Truro Fire Department, Truro Police Department, National Park Service, and Massachusetts State Police resumed the search for a missing person off Ballston beach. At approximately 0740, the body of the missing person was located 1 mile north of Ballston Beach. The Massachusetts State Police and National Park Service are investigating this incident. At this time the identity of the individual is being withheld pending family notification.

 

BALLSTON BEACH MISSING SWIMMER

On September 29, 2018, at approximately 1333 hours, members of the Truro Police and Fire Department responded to Ballston Beach, 139 South Pamet Road, for the report of a swimmer in distress. Several additional agencies responded to assist in a rescue effort. The missing swimmer was described as a male in his late 20's. He was reportedly fully clothed and was last seen approximately six-hundred (600) yards south of Ballston Beach in the surf.

Crews attempted to locate the missing swimmer, assisted by the United States Coast Guard and the Massachusetts State Police. As of 1830 hours, the missing swimmer had not yet been located. Officials called off the search once it became dark, and a recovery mission wil resume in the morning.

The swimmer is not being identified at this time.
